Corey Krimmer is a CIRES IT support specialist who supports administrative and research staff by solving computer issues, setting up new devices, providing A/V support for events, and so more! Corey came to CIRES after his sister shared the posting for his current position. He could read “Exo: A Jumper Novel” over and over again, he loves to go to music festivals — and he has a private pilot license. 

Tell us about your work at CIRES.

I provide general IT support to admin and researchers within CIRES. This includes solving computer related issues, providing access to shared folders, ordering and configuring new devices, A/V support for events, printing posters, and some server administration.

What brought you to CIRES?

My wonderful sister, Aly Krimmer, works with the proposals team and recommended the IT position to me when it became available. I have always had a passion for computers and was the go to "IT support" for my family and friends. Now my passion is my job!

What book could you read over and over again?

“Exo: A Jumper Novel.” The last book in Steven Gould's Jumper series. It is so fun and smart. It basically depicts what an outer-space obsessed young adult would do if they could teleport.

Tell us about some of your hobbies.

• I enjoy live music and try to go to as many shows and festivals as I can. I mostly prefer Rock/Indie/EDM artists, but I’m always open to new music. The best show I have ever seen is still Blink-182, Weezer, and Taking Back Sunday in New York in 2009.
• I have a private pilot license, and was part of the first NIFA [National Intercollegiate Flight Association] flight team at SUNY Farmingdale.
• I follow space news closely, and I am excited to see what NASA does with the Artemis missions.
• I also love hiking adventures into the mountains.
