Guy Symonds
Research Interests
Guy is a Chemistry PhD candidate under the direction of Prof. Jose-Luis Jimenez. He obtained his Bachelor and Master of Science degrees from Carnegie Mellon University in Pennsylvania in 2022, and when he is not in the lab or the field, he enjoys traveling to new museums.
Current Research
Guy’s research focuses on improving the understanding of the formation of atmospheric particulate matter (PM2.5). He performs and analyzes measurements from aircraft and in the laboratory. His work has taken him to 4 different Asian countries to sample urban air. His results are already being incorporated in NASA reports to policy makers in each of the 4 countries, to guide them to improve air quality by targeting the most important sources of air pollution.
