Educators from the CIRES Center for Education, Engagement, and Evaluation wrote an opinion piece about the changing landscape in the climate education field. The article summarizes the history of science and climate literacy and how the climate education field can evolve in the future.

"The [climate change education] field has moved toward an understanding that the social context of climate change and fostering student agency is integral to comprehensive climate education," the authors wrote.

The authors note that schools, museums, and environmental education centers, which are well integrated in communities, are integral to climate action.
